18-Year-Old Injured After Shooting Breaks Out Near Towson University: Police

TOWSON, MD — A shooting near Towson University late Sunday led to an 18-year-old man being hospitalized and the school being placed under an hourslong lockdown.

Baltimore County Police said in a release that the shooting was reported around 7:30 p.m., prompting authorities to respond to the 8000 block of York Road.

At the scene, officers found an 18-year-old man near Osler and Campus View drives who was later hospitalized for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The individual was not identified.

Trae Corbin, a BCPD detective, told reporters during a weekend briefing that the shooting was not believed to be tied to Towson University and that the injured individual was not a student at the school.

It remains unclear what led to the shooting.

A campuswide shelter-in-place order issued by Towson University remained in effect until about 10 p.m.

The school had earlier alerted the community to the shooting investigation being conducted near the Cardiff Hall Apartments.
