Baltimore Co. Man Ordered To Psychiatric Facility After Wife's Death: Report

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Anthony Lecher, a Monkton man who was accused of fatally stabbing his wife last year, was ordered to a state psychiatric facility after being found not criminally responsible, according to a report.

Citing court records, CBS Baltimore reported that the decision was made following a competency evaluation prompted by Lechner's inability to recall the events that had unfolded.

Lechner had been facing a first-degree murder charge for the September 2025 stabbing death of his 56-year-old wife, Kimberly Lechner.

At the time, Kimberly was pronounced dead at the couple's Monkton home on the 900 block of Maplehurst Lane. WJZ reported Kimberly's brother, who lived in the home's basement, had witnessed the stabbing.

Kimberly had served as a teacher at the Two By Two preschool operated under the Hereford Faith & Life Church, Patch previously reported.
