MD Man Accused Of Killing Father-In-Law Denied Bail

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Mark Ryan, a Bel Air resident accused of killing his father-in-law, was denied on Tuesday the chance to be released to home detention as he awaits trial.

The 41-year-old man is facing seven charges, including first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, home invasion, third-degree burglary, and two counts of using a firearm during a violent crime.

All seven charges stem from the May shooting that killed 74-year-old Robert MacMeekin, Ryan's father-in-law.

The shooting took place at MacMeekin's home on the 14000 block of Sawmill Court in the Phoenix community of northern Baltimore County.

Tuesday's court hearing saw Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Fuller detail that the shooting occurred just a few hours after MacMeekin had helped his daughter, Alexandra, file for a protective order against Ryan, The Banner reported.

MacMeekin was an attorney at Fine, Kelly & MacMeekin in Timonium.

Fuller also indicated that the shooting took place in front of Ryan's two children, who were 2 and 5.

Ryan will remain held without bond until his next court appearance on July 17. No official trial date has yet been set.
