MASSACHUSETTS — A popular breakfast chain is continuing its expansion in Massachusetts with two new restaurants planned this year and next.

First Watch, an award-winning breakfast, brunch and lunch spot, will open new stores in Swampscott and Dedham, a media representative for the restaurant chain confirmed to Patch.

The eatery opened its first Massachusetts location in Jan. 2025 at 1775 in Hanover, and opened a Boston location in January as part of a continued New England expansion.

The new Swampscott location is expected to open in late fall at 450 Paradise Rd., the representative told Patch. The restaurant will span about 3,700 square feet and feature a covered patio, more than 130 seats and a locally inspired mural.

In Dedham, First Watch is targeting a 2027 opening at 689 Providence Highway, the representative told Patch. That restaurant will be slightly smaller at about 3,400 square feet, but will include a covered patio, an interior bar, over 150 seats and a custom local mural.

Both restaurants will follow First Watch’s daytime-only operating model, which has become a hallmark of the brand. Locations are open daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The company typically begins hiring about a month before opening. A company representative told Patch that they expect each restaurant to create roughly 30 local jobs.

First Watch’s menu focuses on made-to-order breakfast, brunch, and lunch items prepared in kitchens without heat lamps, microwaves, or deep fryers. Signature dishes include Avocado Toast, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and Million Dollar Bacon, along with a rotating seasonal menu that changes several times a year.
