Beloved MA Ice Cream Chain Celebrates 11 Years In Business

HUDSON, MA — A Massachusetts ice cream shop that grew from a single Hudson storefront into a six-location chain marked its 11th anniversary over the weekend.

New City Microcreamery celebrated the milestone Saturday at all of its Massachusetts locations with live music, giveaways, special treats and ice cream, according to the business. In a social media post, the Hudson-based company thanked customers for supporting the shop since it opened in 2015.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported us and made New City Microcreamery your neighborhood ice cream shop,” the business wrote. “Your love and support mean the world to us.”

New City Microcreamery is known for its scratch-made ice cream and its liquid nitrogen-freezing process. The business was launched by Karim El Gamal, Michael Kasseris and Jason Kleinerman, who also opened Rail Trail Flatbread Co. in Hudson in 2012. New City later opened across the street in 2015.

The company has since expanded beyond Hudson, with locations in Arlington, Bolton, Cambridge, Chestnut Hill and Sudbury, according to its website.

Last month, New City Microcreamery also announced plans to open a factory, a move the company said would help bring its small-batch gourmet ice cream to more stores.
