Bitter Blast, Snow Back For Big Game Weekend: See How Cold It Will Get

Some of the coldest air of a very harsh winter will be moving in ahead of Sunday's kickoff between the Patriots and Seahawks.

MASSACHUSETTS — Some of the coldest air of a very harsh winter will hammer Massachusetts this weekend as fans across New England make their final preparations for the big game on Sunday night.

The cold will be preceded by snow showers during the day on Saturday as the temperatures drop and up to 1 to 3 inches of snow falls across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

The slight moderation in the punishing cold from earlier this week is essentially over, with a high on Wednesday of 32 degrees, with a sustained northwest wind at 15 mph, making it feel like the teens.

Highs on Saturdays will be in the 20s.

Temperatures crash overnight Saturday with a low temperature of 2 degrees in Boston and winds ramping up to gusts of 37 mph. Wind chills by dawn will be 20 to 30 degrees below zero.

Sunday will be a cold and very blustery day. The NWS is forecasting a high temperature of 17 degrees with northwest wind gusts to 30 mph, keeping wind chills well below zero most of the day into the night.

After another very cold Sunday night with a low of 2 degrees, temperatures will slowly moderate next week with a high of 21 degrees on Monday and highs back into the high 20s and 30s by midweek.
