Halloween Forecast: What's In Store For Trick-Or-Treaters Across MA
Will the little ones have to bundle up during their holiday candy strolls on Saturday night?
Halloween trick-or-treating can bring a big range of temperatures across New England, with warm, sunny days often giving way to much cooler — or even frosty — nights once the lights go on and the little ghouls and goblins scurry across neighborhoods filling their candy buckets.
Fortunately for kids — as well as the young at heart dressing up for Halloween events and parties that night — this year is shaping up to be a relatively mild Halloween night with temperatures on Saturday into the 60s across much of Massachusetts and no sharp drop-off or harsh wind after dusk.
The warm stretch comes after a frost warning set for Tuesday night into Wednesday. After a very chilly Wednesday morning, high temperatures are expected to rise each day, with the high 50s on Wednesday, 60s on Thursday and well into the 70s on Friday.

This weekend is shaping up to be a fall beauty across the region, with highs in the 60s and virtually no chance of rain each day.
While that should prevent children from having to put heavy winter coats over their costumes, there are some local police tips that should be heeded to make sure this is as safe and fun a holiday for all as can be.

The Marblehead Police Department said young trick-or-treaters should always be accompanied by an adult. Older children should be reminded how to trick-or-treat safely and use the buddy system so no one walks alone.
Drivers should also be extra cautious and drive slowly, paying careful attention to trick-or-treaters who may be unaware of traffic.
Most cities and towns have designated trick-or-treat hours across Massachusetts — generally between 5 p.m. and about 8 p.m. — to ensure that folks are ready and looking forward to the tiny visitors to the door.
Some smaller communities that are more spread out may have downtown or town square block parties where families can gather and enjoy holiday activities without having to hop in and out of a car all night.
Parents and guardians are asked to inspect any candy that a child gets to make sure it is in a wrapped container. Also, inspect labels since there are now legal THC products that can, in some circumstances, resemble wrappers of simple candy.
