Boston's Brigham And Women's Hospital Nurses Return To Work Following Strike And Lockout

More than 4,000 registered nurses at Brigham and Women’s Hospital returned to caring for their patients Monday morning, concluding the largest nurse strike and lockout in Massachusetts history with a powerful solidarity walk into the hospital after Mass General Brigham’s four-day lockout ended. The nurses staged a one-day strike last week and found themselves locked out of the hospital when they attempted to return the following day. While the nurses were back to work, about 450 MGB Home Care clinicians remained on strike and will continue through Tuesday as they still hope to reach a new contract agreement with their employer.

Diarrhea Parasite Outbreak: 7 Things To Know And What To Do In Massachusetts

Cyclospora cayetanensis is a tiny heat-loving parasite that infects the bowels and spreads through feces. Cases typically rise in spring and summer. The cyclosporiasis season runs from May 1 through Aug. 31. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed outbreak cases in 17 states, but state health departments have reported illnesses in more. At least 145 cases have been reported to the CDC, with 20 requiring hospitalization, while The Associated Press said its reporting showed about 1,700 people in 29 states have been sickened.

Swampscott's Aidan Emmerich Wins Mass. Amateur Golf Title

The recent Temple University graduate became the first Kernwood Country Club member to capture the Massachusetts Amateur and the first North Shore golfer to win the title since Swampscott native Steven DiLisio did so in 2019 at The Country Club. Emmerich had reached the semifinals last year at GreatHorse. Emmerich pulled away from Zac Georgantas of Foxborough Country Club for an 8-and-6 victory in the 36-hole final at Winchester Country Club.

Milford Woman Wins $1M Lottery Prize.

The woman purchased a winning ticket from the Massachusetts State Lottery's “$4,000,000 In The Money” instant ticket game. She chose the cash option on her prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. The ticket was sold at Winners Corner, 2303 Turnpike St. in North Andover.

3 Lucky Winners Cash $100K On Tickets Sold In Andover

The three winners were in the Mass Cash game, a daily draw game in which players match five numbers for a chance to win the game's $100,000 top prize. The tickets were sold on the same day at Shawsheen Village Liquors in Andover.
