Popular Chicken Chain Plans MA Expansion

The Connecticut-based chain is planning three new restaurants in the Bay State.

SPRINGFIELD, MA — A Connecticut-based hot chicken chain is planning a larger move into Massachusetts.

Haven Hot Chicken has signed a three-unit franchise agreement with Nate and Whitney Tupper of 1779 Hot Ventures LLC to open restaurants in Springfield, West Springfield and Chicopee, with the first location expected to open in late 2026, according to a Tuesday announcement from RestaurantNews.com.

The agreement marks Haven Hot Chicken’s second franchise development in Massachusetts. Patch previously reported the chain opened its first Massachusetts restaurant in Franklin in January at 477 W. Central St., which was also the brand’s first location outside Connecticut.

The Tuppers also operate a Jersey Mike’s Subs franchise in Longmeadow, according to the company. They discovered Haven Hot Chicken during trips to Connecticut before pursuing franchise development.

Haven Hot Chicken was founded in 2020 in New Haven, Connecticut. The fast-casual chain serves crispy and grilled chicken with five heat levels, along with sides and sauces.
