Popular Italian Eatery To Open In Central MA
The restaurant said it plans to open a location in Millbury this summer, according to an announcement on its website.
MILLBURY, MA — A popular Rhode Island-based Italian restaurant plans to open in Worcester County.
Avvio Ristorante said it plans to open a location in Millbury this summer, according to an announcement on its website. The eatery, which has been open since 2016 in Cranston, Rhode Island, serves Italian classics, such as pizza and pasta, along with a variety of sandwiches and entrees.
The restaurant is expected to open at 70 Worcester-Providence Tpke., Ste. 441, at The Shops at Blackstone Valley, according to a report from the Worcester Business Journal. The news outlet said it will replace the former UNO Pizzeria and Grill location.

UNO Pizzeria and Grill in Millbury closed in February 2024. Patch reported that the chain closed three more locations in Massachusetts earlier this month. The stores in Revere, Dedham, and Braintree shuttered on Jan. 11.

There are now five UNO Pizzeria and Grill locations left in the Bay State. Those are located in Attleboro, Bellingham, Sturbridge, Springfield, and Worcester.
Avvio is part of the Newport Restaurant Group, which also owns Bar Cino in Brookline, Watertown, and Westwood; Papa Razzi in Wellesley; along with several other eateries in Rhode Island, according to its website.

The Shops at Blackstone Valley is home to a number of other stores and restaurants, including an Applebee’s, TGI Fridays, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and an Apple Store that opened last year. Apple moved its store at Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough to Millbury in December.
