Torrential Rain, Flooding Across MA Brings End To Extended Dry Spell: See Latest Forecast
Nineteen straight days of dry weather will come to an end with some areas of the Bay State getting up to 3 inches of rain.
The longest dry stretch of 2026 will come to a soggy end this weekend as torrential rain brings flood risks to parts of the state and temperatures come crashing back from their near-record highs of recent days.
After one more mostly dry and very warm Thursday — with highs well into the 70s and summer-like humidity — Friday will be a muggy and damp day with occasional downpours across much of the state, and steady rain along the South Shore and South Coast that could add up to as much as 3 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Because of the large amount of rain in a relatively short time following weeks of dry weather, there is a flood risk for areas that get the sustained downpours.

Rain will tend to taper overnight on Friday with more sporadic showers into Saturday, and then potentially on Sunday.
After a warm and muggy Friday, temperatures will be more seasonable over the weekend with highs in the 50s and lower 60s.
