After highs in the 70s on Wednesday, wind chills this weekend could dip down into the teens.

A drastic change in temperatures will send highs in the 70s on Wednesday dipping down into the 20s — with wind chills possibly in the teens — by the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A windswept rain on Friday will mark the transition between weather that feels like early September and something more reminiscent of Thanksgiving.

Wednesday could wind up being one of the warmer days left in the season with sunny skies and highs near 75 degrees.

Then comes the big temperature crash for Friday night and Saturday as highs will struggle to get through the 40s and northwest winds will gust to 33 mph — creating wind chills near freezing for the first time in about six months.

The coldest air settles in on Saturday night with widespread frost for most of those who have yet to get one across the state.

The NWS is calling for a low of 36 degrees in Boston — but it could be 10 degrees or colder across the interior as winds diminish overnight.

Sunday will be a bit warmer, with a high of 55 degrees before temperatures moderate to more seasonable levels early next week.
