Slow down and reconnect with your hands in this calming, creative workshop focused on mindful hand stitching. Using a curated selection of fabrics, you’ll design and create your own personal textile art piece (approximately 5×7 or 6×6), guided by simple yet beautiful stitching techniques inspired by traditions like Sashiko from Japan and Kantha from India.
This workshop is not about perfection—it’s about process. As you stitch, you’ll begin to notice a natural rhythm emerge, helping you relax, focus, and enjoy the act of making. Along the way, you’ll learn how to combine fabrics, layer textures, and use hand stitching both as decoration and as a form of repair and storytelling.
Your finished piece can be framed as textile art, incorporated into a larger project, or simply treasured as a reminder of time spent creating something by hand.
No prior sewing experience is needed, and all materials will be provided.

About the Instructor:
I’m Deepika Prakash, a lifelong maker, educator, and the founder of PatternReview.com, a global sewing community with over half a million members worldwide. For more than two decades, my work has centered on sharing knowledge, fostering connection, and creating welcoming spaces for people to learn and grow through making.

Registration & Communication Policy:
All registrations are first come, first serve. Upon registration you will receive an email receipt. A detailed course confirmation will be sent via email no more than three days prior to the workshop or class.
Cancellations:
A $25 processing fee applies to all cancellations
- Full refunds less the cancellation fee up to four days before the class begins
- No refunds are available less than four days before the class begins. This allows our staff, faculty and other students to have adequate time to prepare. If you can’t make it to the class, feel free to send a friend in your place.
- No partial refunds, make ups, or pro-rated classes are offered for student absence.
ArtSpace reserves the right to cancel classes and workshops. If a class is cancelled, all students receive a full refund. In case of teacher absence or inclement weather, the class will be rescheduled.
