Massachusetts State Trooper Wounded At Acton Police Horse Stable: Police

The shooting "appears to be an accidental discharge of his service weapon," the state police said.

ACTON, MA — A Massachusetts State trooper was wounded at an Acton police horse stable in what "appears to be an accidental discharge of his service weapon," police said.

The trooper was taken to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington on Wednesday evening, state police Sgt. Gregory Jones said in an email.

The trooper's injuries were not life-threatening, Jones said.

The trooper was wounded in "what preliminarily appears to be an accidental discharge of his service weapon at the Mounted Unit barn in Acton," Jones said.

"Per policy, he will be out on administrative leave, and the matter remains under investigation," he said.
