Dog Killed, Driver Hospitalized After Attleboro Single-Vehicle Crash

ATTLEBORO, MA — A dog was killed and a driver hospitalized after he crashed into a retaining wall early Sunday morning.

Shortly after midnight Saturday, Attleboro firefighters responded to the crash near the intersection of Angeline and Washington streets, the fire department said in a media release.

"Upon arrival, firefighters located a single vehicle that had struck a retaining wall and sustained significant front-end damage," the release said.

"The sole male occupant was found unresponsive inside the vehicle," the release said. "Crews used hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver, a process that took approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Firefighters performed CPR on the driver before he was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, according to the release.

"A dog was also located inside the vehicle and was found deceased," the release said.

"Firefighters remained on scene until approximately 1:36 a.m.," according to the release. "The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Attleboro Police Department."
