New Sagamore Bridge Reaches Major Milestone: Report
The new Sagamore Bridge is moving closer to completion.
SAGAMORE, MA — For more than 90 years, the Sagamore Bridge has served as one of the main roadway connections between Cape Cod and mainland Massachusetts.
On Tuesday, a major milestone was reached in efforts to replace the bridge. State transportation officials narrowed the list of potential builders for the Sagamore Bridge project to three teams, according to The Cape Cod Times.
The goal is to begin construction in about a year.

The three prospective builders are joint venture teams and must submit their proposals by next spring for the state’s final assessment, which will be based on technical expertise and price, Luisa Paiewonsky, executive director of the state Department of Transportation’s Megaprojects Delivery Office, said Monday.
A public bid opening is expected in July, with construction beginning shortly afterward, Gov. Maura Healey said Monday.
