MCC’s “A World of Music” to Host Lowell Chamber Orchestra

MCC will host the Lowell Chamber Orchestra at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 22 at the Academic Arts Center in Lowell

As part of the Fall 2026 “A World of Music” concert series, Middlesex Community College will host the Lowell Chamber Orchestra (LCO). The performance will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 22 at MCC’s Richard and Nancy Donahue Family Academic Arts Center, Recital Hall, in Lowell.

“LCO’s next concert ’The Memory of Melodies’ showcases a few soloists performing works that either have an enduring memory, or are inspired by other melodies,” said Orlando Cela, MCC faculty member and conductor of the LCO. “I’m particularly excited to feature Carmen [Rodríguez-Peralta, MCC’s Chair of Music], as one of the soloist: she does so much behind the scenes, that her appearance front-and-center is long overdue. It’s going to be a great concert!”

Keyboard Concerto in F minor by Johann Sebastian Bach; A Night with the Aristocrats by Apostolos Paraskevas; “I Heard The Children Singing” by Lansing McLoskey, the winner of the 2026 LCO Call-for-Scores; and Ancient Airs and Dances by Ottorino Respighi will be performed.

Rodríguez-Peralta will perform a piano solo for the Bach concerto. The flutist and guitarist for the work by Paraskevas are Wei Zhao and the composer respectively.

“I have had the pleasure of playing the piano as part of the Lowell Chamber Orchestra on numerous occasions, but this is the first time that I will be appearing as soloist with the ensemble,” Rodríguez-Peralta said. “I am very excited to play Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in F minor with LCO and to share this vibrant and lyrical work with the audience.”
