Beverly Car Fire Spreads To Home, Dog Killed, Four Displaced In Blaze: Beverly FD

Beverly fire said crews had to dig out "hidden fires" in walls from the basement to the attic.

BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly home was heavily damaged, and a pet dog had to be euthanized because of injuries suffered in a fire that traveled from a carport to a Hale Park Avenue home on Sunday.

Beverly fire said they responded to heavy fire involving vehicles, a carport and a home early Sunday afternoon.

No injuries were reported, and four adults were displaced in the blaze.

Deputy Chief Kevin Smith called for a second alarm and directed crews to attack the fire while he confirmed that everyone was out of the home at about 1 p.m.

After the main fire was knocked down, crews began "the difficult job of digging out hidden fires" from the home's walls, floors and ceiling. Beverly fire said hot spots traveled to several void spaces from the basement to the attic.

The fire was fully under control about 90 minutes after crews first responded.

"Sadly, a pet dog was euthanized as a result of the fire," Beverly fire said.

Beverly fire said investigators remained on scene Sunday afternoon

The four adults who were displaced were being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Rehab 5, Northeast Regional Ambulance and Beverly Police assisted at the scene, along with Salem, Danvers, and Hamilton assisted at the scene.

Manchester, Peabody, and Wenham provided station coverage and responded to other emergencies during the fire.
