Ipswich's Gain is Beverly's Lost

Time for Professional City Management

I was pleased to read that Brendan Sweeney a grifted former Councilor at large in Beverly for several years was Hired by the town of Ipswich to be their new Town Manager.Brendan, with his combination of public Administration education as well as experience, as the Assistant Town Manager of Boxford, will be a positive addition for the Ipswich community.

They will have an individual that is professional, discipled, organized, and collaborative in his approach. Transparency will not be a problem.I wish him the best and he will be missed.

Unfortunately, Ipswich’s gain was made possible because the citizens of Beverly decided to choose chaos by reelecting Mayor Cahill over orderly professional management in Brendan Sweeney.

In the coming weeks and months, we will be confronted head on with the results of ten plus years of a chaotic, lack of financial disciple overspending administration that has resulted in over four plus million in debt, worst roads on the Northshore as well as m the potential of cuts and or talk of an override when our property taxes are high, and our school are underperforming.

My opinion, Beverly missed its chance for a professional approach to managing our City. Hiring unqualified politicians like Mike Cahill is a fool’s errand repeated several times

Time to change when the budgets are over 180 Million and growing you need professional City Managers. Not hacks.
