Stamp Out Hunger Returns May 9 as Local Need Continues to Rise

Stamp Out Hunger by leaving a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox for letter carriers to collect and distribute on May 9.

Beverly, MA – On Saturday, May 9, residents across the community can take part in the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the country.

With food insecurity on the rise, this year’s drive comes at a critical time. Community members are encouraged to leave a bag of non-perishable food next to their mailbox, and their letter carrier will collect donations during regular mail delivery. All items will be sorted and distributed to local food pantries, including Beverly Bootstraps.

According to the Greater Boston Food Bank’s annual Food Access Report, the number of Massachusetts households experiencing food insecurity has increased significantly, rising from 19% in 2019 to 40% in 2025. In the past year alone, over 400 new households have signed up for food assistance at the Beverly Bootstraps Food Pantry.
