1 Dead After Vehicle Crashes Into Boston Medical Building

Two others were treated for injuries at the scene of the incident.

BOSTON, MA — One person has died after a vehicle crashed into a medical building in Jamaica Plain Thursday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the area of Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital on Centre Street at approximately 10:48 a.m. after a vehicle crashed into Belkin House, according to Boston EMS. Paramedics were already in the area and witnessed the crash, immediately activating 911 and requesting additional support. Crews also requested assistance from the Boston Fire Department due to a gas leak at the scene.

Boston police told Patch that responding officers found a vehicle had struck a building and gas line near the hospital's parking garage. The vehicle also struck a person, who was pronounced dead. The two people inside the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple Boston EMS units responded, with members establishing incident command and coordinating the response alongside Boston firefighters, police, and Faulkner Hospital personnel. Four Boston EMS members were evaluated for exposure following the incident.

Boston police told Patch that homicide detectives and members of the department's Fatal Collision Team responded to investigate the crash. National Grid and the city's Inspectional Services Department were also requested at the scene. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
