Beloved Ice Cream Shop Debuts First MA Store With Opening Weekend Deals: Cheap Eats

BOSTON, MA — A popular ice cream shop known for its funky flavors is officially opening its first location in Massachusetts and is celebrating with some deals.
Salt & Straw opens its doors in the Seaport neighborhood on Friday. The business is known for its fun flavors and current menu items, with specialty Boston exclusives like Boston cream pie and pistachio-and-ricotta cannoli.
The business will open at the updated Commonwealth Pier at 200 Seaport Boulevard. The new location is one of the ice cream chain's more than 50 locations nationwide, including one in Salem, New Hampshire.

Opening Weekend Giveaways, Promotions
To celebrate its Boston debut, the business is welcoming guests with a weekend of exclusive giveaways, promotions and family-friendly events.

On opening day, guests waiting in line will receive complimentary coffee from Daily Provisions, while the first 100 visitors will get Salt & Straw gift cards.
On Saturday, families can enjoy free kids' scoops with any ice cream purchase, face painting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and complimentary coloring pages and crayons.
The festivities wrap up Sunday with the "Make It A Double" happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring buy-one, get-one scoops.
Salt & Straw was founded by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek in Portland, Oregon. Its owners said they are excited to open in a new city home to ice cream lovers.
"Boston has been a city we've admired for its incredible food culture, rich history, and deep sense of community," says CEO and co-founder Kim Malek. "There's an authenticity here that feels incredibly aligned with who we are as a company. We couldn't be more excited to open our shop, build relationships with local makers and organizations, and create a gathering place where people can connect for years to come."
The Boston shop will also serve up Salt & Straw's Summer Pie series, which officially launches Friday. The series will showcase signature flavors, including Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, and Strawberry & Coconut Water Sherbet.
