Longtime TV Anchor To Depart From MA Station

An anchor who's been with the station for over two decades announced his departure recently.

BOSTON, MA — Longtime anchor Mark Ockerbloom will be leaving Boston 25 News, according to a statement from the station.

Ockerbloom has spent 22 years at Boston 25 in a multi-decade career.

“As a kid who grew up in Winchester, it was the thrill of a lifetime to get to work in my home market,” Ockerbloom said in the announcement.

Ockerbloom said that after 40 years in broadcasting, "now it’s time to turn the page and write a new chapter, including spending more time with my family.”

Ockerbloom is a four-time New England Emmy Award winner. Last year, he was honored with the New England chapter’s Silver Circle Award in 2025 for his contributions to local broadcasting.

His last day with the station will be May 15.

Over his years with the station, Ockerbloom has covered major stories such as the Boston Marathon bombings, Whitey Bulger's capture, the Aaron Hernandez trial, the Pope’s visit to America and the funeral for former President George H. W. Bush, according to his bio.

Previously, Ockerbloom worked for NECN and an Oklahoma City TV station.
