Graveyard Sounds: Haunting Words from Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe
Greet Halloween with delightfully spooky poems and stories by two American masters, Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe. The recital features gruesome poems in a pounding cadence by Poe, his sinister short story The Tell-Tale Heart, and quietly haunting, eerie and elusive works by Dickinson. Useful explanations help you understand, appreciate and enjoy each of the time-honored works. Creepy props enhance the Halloween atmosphere. The program includes summaries of the lives of the two celebrated poets, Dickinson and Poe. The recital is presented by Jeffrey Zygmont, poet, author, and publisher.
Jeffrey Zygmont is a New England writer and poet who has published numerous poetry, fiction and non-fiction books (including children’s books), and short stories. Working as a journalist, he has published articles in a long list of magazines and newspapers. He speaks regularly about poetry and art – especially to promote the works of American poets Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe and Robert Frost – at venues around New England. Jeff studied engineering and the physical sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and a master’s degree in English from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.
