4 People, Including 2 Children, Rescued From Water By Bystanders Off Cape Cod: Police

CAPE COD, MA — Four people were rescued from the water off Cape Cod Saturday by two good Samaritans, police said.

The Barnstable Police Department said they were notified at about 11:31 a.m. about four people possibly in distress in the water off Sandy Neck Beach, on Sandy Neck Road, in West Barnstable.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that two children were in the water and having difficulty returning to shore due to the current, police said.

Additionally, two adults were about 100 yards farther offshore and were also having difficulty making their way back to shore, police said.

Two bystanders reportedly swam out and assisted all four individuals safely back to shore, police said.

Members of the West Barnstable Fire Department arrived on scene and evaluated everyone involved, police said.

There were no reported injuries, and no one was transported from the scene, police said.
