Fernando Castro, Rep. Lewis Nominee, Honored at Latino Excellence Event on the Hill

(Framingham) Fernando Castro, a resident of Ashland, was honored at the 2026 Latino Excellence on the Hill Awards event after his nomination by Representative Jack Patrick Lewis (Framingham). A small business owner, Castro was recognized for his commitment to immigrants, involvement with charitable organizations, and dedication to helping others access opportunities for growth.

“Fernando’s history as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and community leader dedicated to strengthening the Ashland and MetroWest Communities is as impressive as it is admirable,” noted Rep. Lewis. “His life reflects a lasting commitment to service, making him truly deserving of this recognition.”

Originally from Minas Gerais Brazil, Fernando built a successful career in Massachusetts. In 2001, he founded Income Tax Plus, becoming a trusted resource for families, immigrants, and small businesses across Massachusetts. His commitment to immigrants is deeply personal; Fernando was a longtime student of Framingham’s ESL program and has remained one of its strongest supporters, helping others access the same opportunities that helped shape his own journey.

Since 2018, Castro has served on the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Services of Metrowest and is actively involved in Freemasonry through multiple lodges, embracing its tradition of fellowship and charitable service. That same year Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers awarded Fernando the Alva Lima Outstanding Business Award which honors businesses that, through their own activities and support have made the lives of Portuguese speaking communities easier.

The 2026 Latino Excellence on the Hill event is an annual event hosted by the Massachusetts Black & Latino Legislative Caucus to commemorate Latino community leaders and trailblazers who are moving the needle forward in communities across Massachusetts.
