Malden Catholic Hires From Within For Next Boys Basketball Coach

MALDEN, MA — Malden Catholic has hired Mark Garrity as the next head coach of the school's boys basketball program.
Athletic Director Bill Raycraft said Garrity's experience and familiarity with the program made him the right choice to lead the Lancers.
"Mark has been an integral part of our basketball program's success over the past several years," Raycraft said. "His leadership, basketball knowledge, and ability to build meaningful relationships with our student-athletes have helped establish and sustain a championship culture. He understands what makes Malden Catholic special, and we are excited for him to lead our program into its next chapter."

Garrity has served on the Malden Catholic coaching staff since 2020, including roles as interim head coach and head varsity assistant. During that time, the Lancers compiled a 94-19 record, won three state championships, reached another state final and captured two Catholic Conference titles.
According to the school, Garrity also helped develop numerous All-Scholastic players and assisted 11 student-athletes in continuing their basketball careers at the collegiate level.

As interim head coach during the 2025-26 season, Garrity led Malden Catholic to a 15-7 record, including an 11-0 start and a No. 1 ranking in the Boston Herald. The season marked the program's first year competing in Division I.
"I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Head Coach of Malden Catholic Basketball," Garrity said.
"Having been part of this program's success and growth, I have developed a deep appreciation for the tradition, commitment and culture that make Malden Catholic unique. I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our student-athletes, fostering a championship mindset and helping our players reach their fullest potential both on and off the court."
Throughout his coaching career, Garrity has worked with several Massachusetts high school, collegiate and AAU programs, including Danvers High School, Fitchburg State University, Central Catholic High School, Middlesex Magic and Mass Rivals.
According to the school, Garrity has helped develop more than 50 student-athletes who later competed at the collegiate level.
A former standout player at Somerville High School, Garrity also played collegiately at Anna Maria College, Framingham State University and Salem State University.
An official start date for Garrity has not been announced.
