Malden Man Facing Federal Kidnapping And Trafficking Charges

MALDEN, MA — The police department assisted state and federal authorities with the arrest of a man Thursday morning who is accused of holding a woman against her will and sexually abusing her for approximately six weeks.

Jordende Pierre, 29, was taken into custody early Thursday morning as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. Malden police detectives were assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the FBI Boston Violent Crimes Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Service during the operation in and around the 300 block of Summer Street.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Malden police responded to a residence on Sunday, Sept. 20, after receiving a call from a landlord. Police subsequently found a woman who investigators said had been held against her will and sexually abused for approximately six weeks.

An arrest warrant was issued for Pierre out of Malden District Court on Wednesday, Sept. 23. He was wanted on charges of trafficking a person for sexual servitude, kidnapping, and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.

Malden police and members of state and federal law enforcement agencies arrested Pierre the following morning. Police initially said they would not release additional information regarding the circumstances of the investigation in order to protect the victim.

"The allegations in this case are deeply disturbing. No person should ever be subjected to the violence, exploitation, and loss of freedom alleged here," U.S. Marshal for the District of Massachusetts Dennis Matulewicz said in a statement.

Additional details regarding the charges were revealed during Pierre's arraignment in Malden District Court on Friday. Middlesex County prosecutors said the woman was found in an unfinished attic in poor physical condition after being confined there by Pierre.

Pierre reportedly met the woman through a dating app before reportedly holding her in the attic and arranging sexual encounters between her and other men. Prosecutors also said the handle to the attic door could be removed and said Pierre would take it away to prevent the woman from leaving.

Pierre pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Malden Police Chief Marc Gatcomb said the woman was recovered Sunday and brought to a safe location with her family. The investigation remains ongoing. Police said there is no ongoing threat to public safety related to the investigation.
