Malden Resident Pleads Guilty To Assaulting Federal Agents During Immigration Arrest

MALDEN, MA — A resident pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday to assaulting federal agents during an immigration enforcement operation and threatening to kill them, the United States District Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts announced.

Bethany Abigail Terrill, 37, reportedly encountered federal agents outside Malden District Court on Sept. 29, 2025, while they were conducting an immigration arrest. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Terrill physically interjected herself between the agents, pushed toward them while recording on her cellphone, and repeatedly ignored commands to back away. Terrill reportedly yelled “ICE is here, ICE is here,” called the agents “monsters,” and told the individual being arrested that she could try to help them.

Agents warned Terrill that she could be arrested if she continued interfering with the operation. Terrill then reportedly threatened the agents, saying, “We’re coming for you, gonna kill you.” The incident was captured on body-worn cameras worn by the federal agents.

Terrill was first arrested and charged by criminal complaint in October 2025 before being indicted by a federal grand jury in March. She officially pleaded guilty to one count of influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a federal official by simple assault. The charge provides for a sentence of up to one year in prison followed by one year of supervised release and a fine of $100,000.

U.S. Senior District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV scheduled Terrill’s sentencing for Wednesday, Dec. 16.
