Malden Unveils Lineup For 2026 Summer Concert Series

This year's edition includes fewer concerts than in previous summers due to budget considerations.

MALDEN, MA — The city will once again host a series of free summer concerts on City Hall Plaza, with three performances scheduled throughout July and August featuring bands that have become familiar favorites across New England.

The city's 2026 Summer Concert Series will take place on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at City Hall Plaza. Although this year's series includes fewer concerts than in previous summers due to budget considerations, Mayor Gary Christenson said the city remains committed to offering residents free live entertainment during the summer months.

The schedule includes Rico Barr Band on Tuesday, July 28, Brothers Walk Band on Tuesday, Aug. 11, and The Reminisants on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

The opening concert will feature the Rico Barr Band, a longtime New England group led by singer, drummer and songwriter Rico Barr. The band performs a mix of classic rock, blues, soul and R&B and has appeared at festivals, community celebrations and concert series throughout Massachusetts for decades. Brothers Walk Band, which takes the stage on Aug. 11, is a Boston-area group known for its blend of Motown, funk, soul and dance music. The series will conclude with The Reminisants, a New England oldies band that has been entertaining audiences since 1973 with hits from the 1950s through the 1970s. Over the years, the group has shared the stage with artists including The Beach Boys, Chubby Checker, Three Dog Night and The Temptations.

"Although there will be fewer concert events than in the past due to budget considerations, the City is committed to celebrating the season with some talented fan favorites," Christenson said.
