Marblehead Abbot Public Library Prepares To Reopen This Spring

The library has been in a temporary location at the Eveleth School for the past two years during a $9 million modernization renovation.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The Marblehead Public Library will be hosting a book sale at its temporary Eveleth School location as it prepares for the move back to the historic Pleasant Street location following a two-year renovation.

Nearly 70 percent of Marblehead voters in 2021 voted in favor of the $9 million project to update the 144-year-old library following a six-year campaign to build support and funding for the renovation.

The Friends of the Abbot Public Library are hosting the moving sale from March 25 through March 30 in the gym space at the Eveleth School.

All books in the shop will be on sale, and the Friends will be holding a raffle. On March 30, fill a bag of books for only $10.

Hours of the book sale are March 25 through March 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 28 from noon to 4 p.m., March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and March 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Friends will be unable to accept book donations until the library reopens on Pleasant Street later in the spring.

A general meeting of The Friends of Abbot Public Library members will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. for those interested in becoming a member. Perspective members can also go here for more information.
