Marblehead To Host 3 Days Of Early Voting For Prop 2 1/2 Override, Annual Election

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead voters will be able to cast their ballots early for the annual town election and Proposition 2 1/2 override during three days of in-person, early voting at Abbot Hall.

Voting will take place in the town clerk's office on June 2 and June 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on June 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual town election will be held on June 9.

Marblehead residents face a defining vote on June 9 with the three-tier Proposition 2 1/2 override on the ballot, and a $2.3 million trash assessment, along with contested races for Select Board and School Committee.

Voters will be asked to decide between a phased-in $9 million, $12 million or $15 million override over three years. The winning override proposal will be the highest monetary amount that receives at least 50 percent of the vote.

If none of the three tiers receives 50 percent, then the override will fail.
