Marlborough Students Advance To National Contest After SkillsUSA Win
Seven Assabet Valley students qualified for the National SkillsUSA Conference next month.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Students in Marlborough will head to the national stage next month after turning in a record-setting performance at the state SkillsUSA conference in Marlborough.
Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School students won 19 medals across 14 disciplines, including a school-record nine gold medals, at the conference held Apr. 30 through May 2. The gold medalists qualified for the National SkillsUSA Conference in June in Atlanta, GA.
Gold medal winners were Maya Burke in Commercial Roofing; Emily Costa, Casey Knott and Julia Ferreira in Career Pathways Showcase: Natural Resources/Agriculture/Food; Molly Gallagher and Bianca Troiani in Audio Radio Production; Kieran Goodrich in Sticker Design; Alexander Magiannis in CNC Programmer; and Emily Ribeiro in Job Interview.

Silver medalists were Molly Gallagher in Pin Design; Daniel Gois, Gabriella Bairos and Nick Acosta in Promotional Bulletin Board; Helen Ramirez in Collision Damage Appraisal; and Emma Shea in Graphic Communications.
Bronze medalists were Eleanor Gibson and Jonathan Romm in Additive Manufacturing; Delaney Holt in Collision Damage Appraisal; Savannah Ruibal in Painting & Design Technology; and Tamir Slater in Technical Computer Applications.

The district also recognized advisors Bruce Long, Kelly Jenkins, John Steiner and Jonathan Williams for supporting students throughout the competition.
“These students have demonstrated what is possible through hard work, commitment and perseverance,” Superintendent-Director Ernest Houle said. “We are incredibly proud of how they have represented Assabet and look forward to watching them excel at the national level.”
SkillsUSA is a national organization focused on career and technical education, leadership and workforce readiness. Assabet officials said the state results reflect both the students’ dedication and the strength of the district’s vocational programs.
Now the seven Assabet students who excelled at the state level will head to the national competition which is scheduled for Jun. 1 through Jun. 6.
