Medford Residents Invited To Affordable Housing Resource Fair

MEDFORD, MA — Residents will get a chance to learn more about local affordable housing efforts and connect with community organizations during an upcoming resource fair.

The Medford Affordable Housing Trust Resource Fair is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Medford City Hall on 85 George P. Hassett Drive. The event comes as the Trust marks one year of implementing its inaugural Five-Year Action Plan.

The city said the Trust continues to work on generating revenue for affordable housing and building relationships with community partners that can help address Medford's housing needs. The Five-Year Action Plan lays out priorities for the Trust through 2030, including supporting existing homeowners and first-time homebuyers, funding housing stability programs, preserving affordable housing, and working with mission-driven organizations and developers to create affordable housing.

The Trust was established to support the creation and preservation of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households in Medford. Its seven-member board includes the mayor, a member of the Community Preservation Committee, and residents with experience in areas related to housing, finance, law, design, and advocacy.

The Trust has also begun directing funding toward those goals. In 2025, it made $250,000 available for proposals involving the creation, preservation, rehabilitation and support of affordable housing in Medford.

The Sept. 22 event will begin with an open house and networking at 6 p.m., followed by a welcome and introduction at 6:30 p.m. A panel discussion is scheduled for 6:45 p.m., with networking and closing beginning at 8 p.m.

The resource fair is being framed as an opportunity for residents to hear directly from the Trust and its community partners about work underway to address housing needs in the city. Community members will also be able to learn more about available housing resources and the Trust's efforts as it moves into the second year of its five-year plan.
