Affordable Housing Lottery Opens For 6 Melrose Apartments
The lottery is taking place later this summer with several important dates in the process before then.
MELROSE, MA — Six affordable apartments are set to become available by lottery at a new development in Melrose.
The city announced this week that an information session will be held on Monday, June 29, for affordable rental units at 16 Essex Street. The newly constructed building includes 24 apartments and commercial space on the ground floor.
Six apartments will be made available through the lottery, including five one-bedroom units and one three-bedroom unit. The one-bedroom apartments are each about 475 square feet and will rent for $1,900 to $2,000 per month. The three-bedroom unit is about 960 square feet and will rent for $2,709 per month.

The income limits are based on Area Median Income calculations. The maximum household income is $96,000 for one person, $109,700 for two people, $123,400 for three people, and $137,100 for four people.
The public information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be held remotely. Applications are due by 2 p.m. on Monday, July 27. The lottery itself is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
