Boston Teenager Arrested With Loaded Gun

BOSTON, MA — A 17-year-old Dorchester boy is facing multiple charges after officers recovered a loaded handgun following a foot pursuit in Dorchester, according to the Boston Police Department.

The teen was arrested at approximately 6 p.m. near Middleton and Theodore streets after officers saw him and another boy while patrolling the area. Officers were familiar with both teens from previous interactions and saw them begin walking at an accelerated pace as police approached, according to the department.

Officers reportedly saw the male walking with an awkward gait and both arms pinned at his sides before getting out of their cruisers and attempting to speak with the pair. The teen then allegedly fled on foot down Marden Avenue.

While pursuing the teen, police reportedly saw him pull an object from the front of his waistband and throw it behind a nearby residence. Other officers in the area stopped the teen on Theodore Street before police recovered a black firearm from behind the residence.

Detectives determined the firearm was a Polymer80 semi-automatic 9mm pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, including one round in the chamber.

The teen is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on delinquency charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a large-capacity firearm.
