4 Local Artists Chosen For Milford’s America 250 Public Art Project

MILFORD, MA — Three new picnic tables will become patriotic works of public art in Milford this summer.

The Milford Cultural Council and Italian American World War Veterans Post 40 selected four artists to paint the tables in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the council announced on Tuesday.

The winning designs and artists are:

• “Honoring All Those Who Served” by veteran and artist Tasha DeBlois
• “America 250th Celebration” by mural artist David O’Gara
• An untitled design by mother-daughter team Lisa Sullo and Amelia Ledrich

The artists will paint the tables over the summer. Each artist or team will receive a $500 stipend from ITAM Post 40 after completing the work.

Organizers plan to install the tables by Labor Day under the Fontecchio Pavilion at ITAM Veterans Hall, 4 Hayward Field. The pavilion is located near the Upper Charles Trail.

The new tables will join three patriotic tables painted in 2022 and 2025 through the council’s Brush to Table initiative.

“The council received a diverse range of designs from professional artists, art students and community members,” Cultural Council Chair Geri Eddins said in the announcement.

Brush to Table has placed painted picnic tables in Milford parks and outdoor community spaces since 2021. It is part of the council’s broader Art in the Parks program, which also includes painted trash barrels and a large-scale mural at the Fitness Court Studio in Milford Town Park.
