Milford Resident Wakes To Intruder In Bedroom, Police Say

MILFORD, MA — A 24-year-old man is facing charges after Milford residents told police an intruder walked into their bedroom early Sunday.

Bruno Ramos, who police said is homeless, was arrested about three hours after the break-in and charged with breaking and entering into a building at nighttime to commit a felony, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

Milford Public Safety received a call around 4:15 a.m. Sunday from a Christina Road resident who reported awakening to a man wearing a pink shirt and jeans in the bedroom, police said. The man fled after a brief confrontation, the resident told police.

Milford Police Officer Kevin Heenan arrived around 4:18 a.m. Residents told police the man entered through an unlocked garage door before reaching the bedroom.

Officers searched the area with K-9 Ozzie and the department’s Special Operations Drone Unit but did not locate the man.

Around 7 a.m., another resident who knew about the incident said they saw a man matching the description on South Central Street. Heenan located Ramos near South Central and Central streets, police said.

Police said Ramos became combative and attempted to flee when Heenan tried to detain him. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle, according to police.

“I’d like to commend the efforts of our patrol division, particularly Officer Kevin Heenan, for his restraint and professionalism in bringing this suspect into custody,” Police Chief Robert Tusino said.

Tusino said the incident marked the third time in five months that a Milford resident had awakened to an intruder inside a home. Police urged residents to lock their doors and vehicles.
