Teen Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Milford Stabbing

MILFORD, MA — A Milford teen is facing multiple charges after a stabbing that left another teen with life-threatening injuries on Sunday, police said.

Edwyn Sanchez, 19, was charged after the incident on Sunday evening after officers responded to the Hayward Street area, where an 18-year-old victim had been stabbed, according to the Milford Police Department. The victim was flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for treatment.

The Milford Public Safety Communications Center received multiple emergency calls reporting the stabbing at about 6:24 p.m., police said. One caller told dispatchers they were taking the victim to a hospital.

Officers found several bloodstains on the pavement after arriving on Hayward Street, according to police. They also located Sanchez and saw blood on his arms and legs while speaking with him, police said.

Sanchez has been charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct.

He remained in custody without bail as of Monday, police said.

“We’re learning more of what led to this act of violence as our detectives continue to investigate,” Police Chief Robert Tusino said in a statement. “We’re fortunate to have quickly taken the suspect into custody without further incident.”

Parts of Hayward Street remained closed for several hours while Milford detectives and Massachusetts State Police investigated, police said.

Authorities had not publicly identified the victim or disclosed what led to the stabbing. Authorities also had not announced any update on the victim’s condition as of Tuesday morning.
