Massachusetts Horticultural Society - Garden at Elm Bank

75,000+ Tulips for Display &amp; Pick-Your-Own The Garden at Elm Bank 900 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482 Plan your spring trip to one of Boston's closest tulip fields (less than 20 miles from Downtown!). Advanced purchase of timed tickets is required. Tickets are on sale for Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, May 3 Entries from 10am-5pm most days (10am-4pm on 5/2 and 5/3). Admission: $5 for MHS members $20 for Adults $10 for Kids (3-17) Children 2 and under are free Pick-Your-Own stems are included with paid tickets while supplies are available. Your best chance for a PYO experience is attending early! Pre-cut stems are available throughout the event. Pose for photos in the display-only area in the Trial Garden and take Tulip Mania home with you as pick-your-own stems (while available) or precut stems (available throughout the festival). See spring flowers throughout the Garden at Elm Bank with rows of daffodils in the Italianate Garden, fragrant Magnolias and Lilacs, decades-old Rhododendrons, and purple Alliums from April to May. On Saturday, May 2, MHS will celebrate World Labyrinth Day from 11am to 2pm. Guests are invited to step into a peaceful and meditative walk through the labyrinth accompanied by soothing wooden flute music by Brenda Fingold and John Gass. Through educational programming like Tulip Mania, Massachusetts Horticultural Society advances the art and science of horticulture to help people lead healthier and happier lives. MHS looks forward to welcoming thousands of guests to experience firsthand the joy of horticulture this spring and throughout the Garden Season (April 1-November 24, 2026).

The shop is located in the lower level of the Unitarian Universalist Area Church, 11 Washington St. Sherborn.

Needham Free Public Library

Emily Franklin, best-selling author of The Lioness of Boston, a novel based on the life of Isabella Stewart Gardner, will speak about her new novel, Love &amp; Other Monsters, April 26 at the Needham Free Public Library. 
Franklin’s new novel is based on Frankenstein author Mary Shelley’s real-life, overlooked stepsister, Claire Clairmont. During the cold, scandalous summer of 1816, Clairmont and famous literary figures—including her sister and the poets Percy Shelley and Lord Byron—gathered at a mansion on Lake Geneva, Switzerland. Their interactions resulted in Shelley’s classic book and months of love, lust, art, and betrayal as stormy as the Year with No Summer’s weather outside. 
Franklin is the bestselling author of more than twenty books including a poetry collection, Tell Me How You Got Here. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Kenyon Review, Guernica, and The Journal of the American Medical Association, among many other places, as well as featured and read aloud on National Public Radio, and named notable by the Association of Jewish Libraries. The Lioness of Boston is in its ninth printing and was recently featured as a clue on Jeopardy!.
Ms. Franklin has graciously agreed to discuss both books. 
The public is invited to this free program presented by the Friends of the Needham Public Library in the library’s Community Room at 1139 Highland Avenue, Needham, from 2-3:30 PM, Sunday, April 26. A question-and answer period will follow the presentation. The book will be available for purchase and the author’s autograph.

“Love, Lust, Art and Betrayal” Best-selling Author Emily Franklin to Speak at The Needham Public Lib

Marie Bostwick, a New York Times and USA TODAY best-selling author of more than twenty works of contemporary and historical fiction, will speak about her new novel, The Book Club for Troublesome Women, at the Needham Free Public Library on Monday April 27th
at 7PM.
This historical fiction novel tells the story of four suburban housewives in 1960s Virginia who form a secret book club, inspired by Betty Freidan’s The Feminine Mystique, leading to their feminist awakening and personal transformations as they navigate societal expectations and find sisterhood. 
After its release by Harper Collins Muse in April 2025, the novel received a starred review from Library Journal, and was included on numerous lists of the year’s most anticipated books, including Book Bub’s “Best Historical Fiction of 2025.” In addition to making the USA Today and Southern independent Booksellers Alliance bestseller lists, The Book Club for Troublesome Women was a finalist for the Goodreads Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Historical Fiction of 2025 and won in that same category at SheReads.com.
The public is invited to this free program presented by the Friends of the Needham Public Library and The Book Shop of Needham in the library’s Community Room at 1139 Highland Avenue, Needham, from 7-8:30 PM, Monday, April 27.
