Newton Bringing One-Day Farmers Market To Newton Centre
The preview market will serve as a kickoff to the Newton Farmers' Market's 46th season.
NEWTON, MA — A farmers' market is coming to Newton Centre for a special one-day preview event later this month.
Union Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and transformed into an outdoor market on Saturday, June 13, featuring more than 25 local farms and vendors selling fresh produce, seafood, baked goods, flowers, specialty foods, cheese, and other locally sourced products. The event is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will also feature live music and family-friendly activities throughout the morning.
According to the city, nearby shops, restaurants, and cafés will remain open during the event, with many offering special farmers’ market promotions for visitors. Organizers say the event is designed to combine local shopping, dining, and entertainment in one walkable village-center experience.

“It will be the ultimate, one-day, outdoor shopping experience, with fresh produce, local seafood, baked goods, cheese, backyard chicken rentals, and more,” Newton Director of Economic Development Lauren Berman said in a statement.
City officials said locating the market on Union Street is part of a broader effort by the Economic Development Department to increase foot traffic in Newton's village centers and support local businesses. The location was selected in part because of its proximity to the MBTA Green Line and the concentration of restaurants and retailers surrounding the street.

“Union Street is the perfect location for this market — it’s centrally located, easily accessible by the MBTA Green Line, and surrounded by fantastic shops and restaurants,” Berman said. “This is about bringing energy into the heart of the village while creating a fun and welcoming experience for residents, businesses, and visitors.”
The preview market will serve as a kickoff to the Newton Farmers’ Market's 46th season. Following the June 13 event, the market will return to its regular schedule at Cold Spring Park on Tuesdays and Newton North High School on Saturdays through the fall.
