Newton Taqueria To Host Blades The Bruin For Charity Event

The Boston Bruins' mascot will be at Anna's Taqueria in Newton Highlands on this week to benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation.

NEWTON, MA — Anna's Taqueria announced it is hosting a charity event at its Newton Highlands location featuring Blades the Bruin. The official mascot for the Boston Bruins will be at the restaurant located at 27 Lincoln St. on Wednesday, March 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Blades will roll burritos for guests as part of Anna's Taqueria's new Mascot Rolling Series.

According to the restaurant, proceeds from each entrée purchased during the event will be donated to the Boston Bruins Foundation. The Boston Bruins Foundation supports children, families, first responders, and military members through health and wellness, education, and athletics support and programs. The foundation collaborates with organizations that share its mission to provide resources and programming for community betterment.

Anna's is launching this series to benefit team nonprofit organizations. The event with Blades the Bruin is open to the public.

Following the Newton Highlands event, the Mascot Rolling Series will continue at Anna’s Taqueria Natick location. On Wednesday, April 8, the Worcester Red Sox will send mascots and volunteer “Dreammakers” to participate in a charity rolling event of their own. This series aims to connect local sports franchises with community support efforts through local businesses.

Anna's was founded in 1995 by Mike Kamio. Its first location opened in the Coolidge Corner neighborhood of Brookline, and has since expanded 13 spots in total in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The Boston Bruins Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has raised more than $65 million for local causes since its inception in 2003. It's most well-known fundraising avenues include the BFit Challenge, the 50/50 Raffle, Black and Gold Gala, and Community Ticket Program.
