North Andover Baby Opossums Rescued After Good Samaritan's Call

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Five baby opossums were rescued on Marblehead Street after a caller reported that their mother had died and the young animals were still alive.

North Andover Animal Control said a Good Samaritan contacted the NAPD Dispatch Center to report a deceased mother opossum in a neighbor's yard with babies that were still alive.

The report led to the rescue of five baby opossums.

The babies were removed, kept warm and later transported to a local licensed wildlife rehabilitator.

ACO Brad DiCenzo thanked the person who called in the report.

If residents find orphaned or injured wildlife, they are asked to contact their local Animal Control or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
