North Andover Route 114 Work To Expand This Summer

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Construction activity along the Route 114 project corridor in North Andover and Andover is expected to continue this summer through August 2026, with weekday work planned on the road and at nearby properties.

Excavation and grading for a future shared-use path between the Andover Bypass and Willow Street was to begin on Monday and continue through August. The work is anticipated to start at the Andover Bypass and move east toward Willow Street.

Utility work will continue in the corridor. That includes saw cutting of roadway surfaces to support utility installation, installation of water insertion valves, utility pole relocation and gas utility relocation beginning in late August.

At the same time, Route 114 center median removal and temporary paving at intersections throughout the corridor are expected to continue through September. Temporary traffic control devices will be placed in place of the median, according to the notice.

In North Andover, site preparation is also continuing at properties slated for demolition at the intersection of Route 114 and Hillside Road. The addresses are 582, 591, 599 and 607 Turnpike Street. The work includes temporary construction fencing and related preparation activity, and demolition is expected to begin this summer.

Other work in the corridor includes installation and maintenance of erosion control, sediment control and stormwater protection measures. Test pitting, described in the notice as soil sampling and utility investigation, is also anticipated to continue at various locations on Route 114 through September. Material deliveries will also take place at project work sites and active work zones.

Work activities are scheduled on weekdays, Monday through Friday, during the summer construction season. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Drivers traveling through the project area should expect lane shifts, traffic control devices and police details as needed to support the work and protect public and worker safety.

Construction signs will remain in place and may be adjusted as work areas shift.

Drivers are advised to expect delays, reduce speed and use caution while traveling through the corridor as the project moves forward through the summer and into September for some activities.
