Vehicle Crashes Into Northborough Post Office, Among 2 Crashes In 2 Hours

NORTHBOROUGH, MA — Two significant crashes occurred within two hours on Tuesday, damaging the Northborough Post Office and leaving one driver seriously injured, police said.

Northborough police and firefighters responded to the post office at 235 West Main St. around 1:40 p.m. after a vehicle crashed into the building. Less than two hours later, emergency crews responded to a head-on crash involving two vehicles on Main Street near Route 20.

The driver in the post office crash was taken to an area hospital with injuries believed to be minor, according to Police Chief Brian Griffin.

The building sustained significant damage and postal operations were suspended for the rest of the day. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

At 3:22 p.m., first responders found two heavily damaged vehicles following the head-on crash. One driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries believed to be serious, while the other was hospitalized with injuries believed to be minor.

The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit assisted at the scene. The roadway remained closed for several hours before reopening around 8 p.m.

Northborough police and the reconstruction unit are investigating the crash.
