Event Details
The North Reading Community Band, under the direction of Judith Allen, will be celebrating summer with a free summer concert at the gazebo located on the North Reading Town Common on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. The public is welcome to come to listen to a variety of tunes ranging from Patriotic works John Philip Sousa to fun tunes including Leroy Anderson’s Blue Tango and a song medley honoring Judy Garland. Bring a blanket or chair and don’t forget the bug spray; then settle back for an evening of music for all ages. Please note that in case of inclement weather, the concert will be cancelled.
Begun in 1979, the North Reading Community Band is a group of dedicated amateur musicians who gather at the Damon Tavern for rehearsals on Thursday nights throughout the year. Anyone is welcome to join the band. No auditions are needed, only the desire to play music and have fun. The band plays a variety of styles including light classical, Broadway show medleys, traditional band literature, marches, and popular medleys from different eras. Concerts in the community and at different senior and assisted living centers are held during the year.
