$5M Lottery Prize Sold In Norwood

NORWOOD, MA — One lucky lottery player in Massachusetts won a major prize this week.

A winning $5 million ticket was purchased at Dairy Fine, a small convenience store at 201 Fulton St. in Norwood on Tuesday. The prize was won from the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$5,000,000 100X CASHWORD" scratch-off game.

To win, a player must complete at least two words in either Cashword puzzle or uncover a silver bar symbol in Game 3.

The instant ticket game includes only two $5 million grand prizes, with one remaining. The odds of winning a prize that large were one in more than five million, according to the lottery's website. The game also included 10 $1 million prizes, and only two of those have been claimed.

The state lottery commission did not share who won the prize, but retailers that sell a winning ticket typically receive a bonus from the Lottery.

Nearly 20 other lottery prizes were sold in Norwood on Tuesday, with the second largest being $5,000.
