PEABODY, MA — A driver was taken to the hospital with a "large open chest wound" after a pole flew off a truck, smashed through the vehicle's windshield, impaling the driver with a piece of metal on Route 95 north in Peabody early Friday afternoon, according to multiple emergency services reports. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/nemafea" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Northeast Massachusetts Emergency Services</a> reported that the metal impaled the driver through the chest. Other emergency services reports said the victim was suffering from a "large open chest wound" and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. When RCA Records signed North Shore native Robert Ellis Orrall in 1980 he had his dream band: Kook Lawry on guitar, Don Walden on bass and David Stefanelli on the drums. 46 years later they are back on the road and in the studio.
Part of a New Wave of Boston artists that included The Stompers, Jon Butcher Axis, Til Tuesday and The Neighborhoods, REO rocked legendary venues like The Rat, The Paradise and The Orpheum Theater.
The band’s critically acclaimed albums, "Fixation", "Contain Yourself", and "Special Pain" were recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Roger Bechirian (Elvis Costello, Squeeze), and supported with tours opening for U2, The Kinks, Psychedelic Furs and countless others. And their Top 40 smash hit with Carlene Carter “I Couldn’t Say No” still stands as an 80’s classic.
When Robert moved to Nashville to write and produce, Kook, Don and David lent their talents to artists like Peter Wolf (J. Geils), Barry Goudreau &amp; Brad Delp (Boston), Carlene Carter, Brian Maes, Nick Lowe and many more.
Robert Ellis Orrall has had over 350 songs (and five #1 songs) cut around the world and soundtracked in TV and movies llke “The Bourne Identity”, “Hannah Montana” and “Freaky Friday”. He produced tracks for Love and Theft, Cake Bake Betty and Taylor Swift’s 10X Platinum debut and followup EP.
The band regrouped to reminisce, tour and record “467 Surf And Gun Club”, an album John Hiatt called “absolutely joyful”, Michael McDonald called “relevant and timeless’, and said American Songwriter “The melodies, counter melodies, and killer performances constitute a unique blend of ‘60s-pop-meets-modern-indie songwriting.” They’ve released 5 new albums since then including “Wrong Thing” and “Wonderland”.

At just 18, Bella Rayne is a self-taught guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter whose sound is quickly turning heads across the country. Born in the mountains of North Carolina and raised along the rugged coast of Mendocino, California, she blends rock and Americana with the improvisational spirit of the jam-band tradition—creating a sound that feels both timeless and strikingly new, bridging generations of listeners. Her journey began during the pandemic, when she pulled an old Stratocaster from her garage, fixed it up, and taught herself to play by ear—unlocking a voice and style entirely her own. She has since formed Bella Rayne Band, a high-energy, guitar-driven ensemble that has quickly become one of the most talked-about rising acts on the live circuit. Led by a young lineup of seasoned musicians, the band has surged from small rooms to coast-to-coast stages and festival lineups in a remarkably short time, with crowds growing at every stop. Their sets are explosive and ever- evolving—blending soulful Southern rock, modern Americana, and improvisational jam with bold reinterpretations of Grateful Dead classics alongside Bella’s own originals. Vets Helping Vets (VHV) raises funds to provide scholarships for veterans, as well as the children, grandchildren, and Gold Star Families of local military veterans from all branches of service.
Last year, VHV awarded $9,500 in college scholarships. Funding for these scholarships comes primarily from our 3rd annual Golf Tournament, which will be held on August 31, 2026, in Peabody. We are also grateful for the generous donations and contributions from individuals and the business community that help make our scholarship program a success.
