Peabody Police Open Applications For 2026 Citizens Academy

PEABODY, MA — Peabody police are accepting applications for the department's 22nd Session of the Citizens Academy, a 10-week program scheduled from Oct. 14 through Dec. 16.

Participants will learn about policing firsthand through classroom instruction and hands-on demonstrations. The program is also expected to include a tour of the department's brand-new headquarters, which is located on the hill behind the current station.

Program topics are set to include patrol procedures, terrorism, legal process, domestic violence, investigations, motor vehicle stops, politics in policing, the role of School Resource Officers, Elder Affairs Officers and Community Policing.

Participants will also see live demonstrations from the Drone Unit and K9 Unit, along with an interactive firearms demonstration with the Training Division and a motor vehicle stop class with the Traffic Division.

More than 400 Peabody residents have completed the academy over the past sessions.

Applications are available on the department website. Paper copies are also available at the Peabody Police Department.
