Deadlocked Lindsay Clancy Triple Murder Jury Done For Tuesday

PLYMOUTH, MA — The jury in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial was deadlocked on deciding her fate but will be back Wednesday to continue deliberations.

"The Massachusetts jury weighing Lindsay Clancy's fate has asked to recess for the day and will return Wednesday to continue deliberating, still without a verdict," Fox reported.

Earlier in the day, the judge sent jurors back to deliberate further despite their inability to reach a verdict after 17 hours, according to reports.

"The jury in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial told the judge Tuesday morning that it was unable to come to a unanimous decision at the start of a fourth day of deliberations," NBC reported.

“'After many hours of deliberation, we are unable to come to a unanimous decision,' the jury wrote in a note Judge William Sullivan that he read aloud in court," according to Boston.com.

"If the Massachusetts jury of 9 women and 3 men tasked with deliberating Clancy’s criminal responsibility in the deaths of her three young children can’t agree on a verdict, the judge could attempt to avoid a mistrial by sending the jury back to deliberate, says legal analyst and former federal prosecutor Neama Rahman," People Magazine reported.

Clancy, 36, is charged with the January 2023 murders of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

"Prosecutors have said that in January 2023, Clancy intentionally strangled the three children with fitness bands in their Massachusetts home before jumping out of a second-floor window," the BBC reported. "Clancy, now 36, was paralysed by the jump and has attended the trial in a wheelchair."

"Clancy's attorneys do not dispute that she killed the children," according to PBS. "But they say she should not be held criminally responsible because she was mentally ill, believing she heard voices ordering her to take their lives and her own."
